Upcoming Events: January-February 2013

Happy New Year!

This year is busy already, mainly because I’m teaching two courses at University of Michigan – Ann Arbor. One course is IOE 422, Entrepreneurship, and the other is ENTR 411, Entrepreneurship Practicum. Both of these keep me running, especially since I’m teaching them for the first time, and since I haven’t taught since graduate school! Fortunately, I’m team-teaching the Practicum course with a very able co-lecturer. So far, both courses have been fun and enlightening, and the students are amazing.

Fortunately also, people out there on the speaking circuit are still interested in what I have to say. Entrepreneurs and entrepreneurship are hot topics these days, and no wonder — we really need to put our innovative juices into full gear to rejuvenate our economy. The following are speaking engagements I have scheduled over the next few weeks.  As more develop, I’ll keep you posted. For all the details, see http://provinggroundbook.com/events/.

  1. David,

Congratulations on all of your many accomplishments! I did a sample reading of your book online tonight, your story is very compelling. I too am an african american inventor with a patent pending. I moved back to Detroit 7 months ago to work with Tech Town & WSU to commercialize my IP and create some manufacturing jobs here in Detroit. I have built and tested 3 proto types with a major CA fire department the results were encouraging-I am so excited about the potential global impact of this new technology. While reading your blogs you said something that reinforced my Faith-approach the concept not as winning or losing but to find out will the concept work-prove the theory! Betsy at TechTown shared some of your story with me a few months back. I’m excited about attending your upcoming presentation at TechTown, I hope to obtain a signed copy of your book and to learn something that takes our project to the next level.

    Sincerely
    John

  2. Flint Native. Central High graduate, 1966. Cousin, Norma Richards introduced me to “Proving Ground”. Couldn’t get it in SF Bay Area. Ordered it through Barnes and Nobel from Michigan. Wonderful story. Great presentation (book). Congratulations on all of your achievements, including the work you are presently doing at U of M. I will pay attention to your speaking engagements and await your visit to California. Go Indians!
