The purpose of the University of Michigan Electrical and Computer Engineering Council (ECEC) is to foster excellence in all areas of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) research and teaching, provide strategic guidance to ECE faculty and leadership, and strengthen relationships among ECE faculty, students, alumni and corporations, foundations, and government agencies with ECE-related interests.
“As a U-M ECE graduate, I’m happy to do anything I can to strengthen my alma mater. (Department chair) Khalil Najafi has been doing great things in ECE, and I look forward to working with him and the other council members to keep U-M at the forefront of electrical engineering research and teaching.
Near-term goals for the Council include the following:
- Create a Strategic Planning Report that will include recommendations for ECE initiatives for the next 5-10 years. This report will be updated annually.
- Initiate an Industrial Relations Program that will include an ECE Career Fair. ECE graduate student will have a poster session at this event.
- Develop programming for alumni mentoring and networking with ECE students.
- Promote and support ECE’s $50M campaign.
Electrical and Computer Engineering Council meetings will be held twice annually, and committee meetings will be held as necessary. The first ECEC meeting will be held in the Fall of 2014.
