Day 7: To the Mother Ship and Beyond

After a couple of nice days in SF, time to hit the road. Said my farewell to Aaron and hit the road.

It was fun hanging with “the boy.”

First stop today is the “Mother Ship,” the Fremont, CA Tesla Motors factory. Wanted to see where and how my vehicle was created. Very interesting tour of Tesla’s robot-intensive manufacturing process. Very cool. Also met Aaron’s friend Anna who works at Tesla. Sharp and charming young lady.

At last! A tour of the "Mother Ship."

After the Tesla tour, began the drive south toward LA. Stopped in Monterey to look around, and happened upon this somewhat nondescript spot for lunch. Little did I know I had stumbled onto one of the best seafood spots in the area. Divine!

Headed down the Highway 1 toward LA. Amazing scene, challenging drive. Fun!

I never tire of this scene.

Driving the GTI on the Pacific Coast Highway was a hoot!

Reached San Luis Obispo, my stop for the night, at about 7:30. Just in time to have a Tri-tip sandwich and wine and watch the NBA playoffs. A good end to a good day.

Fish tacos tempting, but not today.

Firestone Grill was a good place to watch the playoffs.
